I don't have the 6XX, but I had both the HD600 and HD650, and I preferred the M1060 far more than either of those. The only Massdrop headphones I have are the K7XX and HE-350, which really don't even compete with the M1060.
I did prefer the K7XX over the HD600 and HD650 though, so it's quite possible that my preferences are just a matter of tastes since the 6XX is based off the 650, and most people seemed to prefer the 6XX over the K7XX.
Guess I'll throw more money at headphones. I need to block this site

This is a good headphone at a great price. I owned one of these at some point. It has bigger soundstage than the Hifiman He400i and Senn. HD6XX. Its nothing like the HD6xx, this headphone is planar magnetic technology and its more fun to listen to than the HD6xx. Its more like the HE400i, but has better features to its advantage, like more bass and better mids. I would say its sound is actually more like the Audeze LCD2 which is a great headphone. I sold it since I already had the Audeze.
Can this be ran directly from an iPhone? Would it sound as good as the Audeze Sine?
I just ordered the Audeze Sine (w the inline DAC-AMP) from Adorama yesterday. Looking for a simple, great sounding headphone.
You can, I can run them from my s8 plus and they still sound nice, but they open up and sound a lot more full through an amp. So if you want to get the most out of them, I suggest an amp, but you can still use them to a lesser extent through your phone at other times
From what I've seen online, it seems that these sound better overall than the He-400i. I have these and they sound great for the money even at retail. They closely mirror Audeze LCD-2/3... with some modifications.
You want to remove the foam off from under the headphone grill and that will increase the clarity. And if you can find the Audeze Vegan pars then that will help suppress the 5k ringing and smooth out the treble. Adding paper towel to the back helps the soundstage too. Even if you can't find the vegan pads, they sound pretty darn close to the LCD-2 which is an $800 headphone.
