Just throwing this out there, as I spent countless hours these past couple days researching all the laptop deals and ways to use discounts to get the best bang for the buck.
Here's what I ended up with, if you go to hp.com and find the Spectre x360 for $1099.99, it comes to $1190.74 after tax.
Direct link here:

>> If it's out of stock, you can still configure this laptop with the same specs, but note that it's going to be $1149 instead of $1099, meaning you're going to pay roughly $50 more. Link to configure the laptop if the ready-to-ship is out of stock:

Specs are i7-8550u, 13.3" IPS 1080P, 16GB, 512GB NVMe M2. SSD, 2x Thunderbolt 3, microsd, fingerprint reader, 16.5hr battery (50% charge in 30min)
Now, go to CardCash and use the 5% discount on the 11.5% HP Gift Cards. You'll pay $84 for every $100 in HP gift cards. The thing is, HP only lets you use 5 gift cards max per order.
So order 4x $250 for $840, and a $100 for $84. Total is $924 for $1100 HP gift cards.
$1190.74 - $1100 gift cards = $90.74 balance which you will pay with your credit card.
Your total cost:
$90.74 paid with CC
+$924 for the 1100 worth of hp gift cards
--------
$1014.74
Adjusted total to reflect actual price paid: $904.74
So for roughly the same price as the ideapad 720s ($800+tax), you get 16GB RAM vs 8GB and 512GB NVMe SSD vs 256GB. Yes you give up the mx150 for UHD 620, but for me it makes zero difference as I'm not buying this for gaming.
Final nail in the coffin: HP is running a risk free rebate right now. Basically, I was able to buy a 3yr warranty with ADH for $170, which is fully refundable if unused upon expiration. Again, you can buy gift cards from CardCash to cover $150 of this $170 total.
Food for thought!

I bought this last year and the issue still persists for me
But, the laptop seems to be out of stock.

@kittunni - that's weird, I checked the link before posting and still saw the "add to cart" button. Refreshing the page now, it is saying out of stock. So much for that, glad I got my order in!

The 8GB / 256GB version of the laptop is still showing as in stock:

You could use the same principals and save about $200 off that one, bringing the cost to around $750.
Apparently you have to go through a Sales Rep to be able to use 5 codes.
On another note, CardCash just canceled my 2 order as they flagged me for high risk of fraud and now have a $2000 on my accounts that will be released within days. Thank you CardCash.
