Don't know how you got any coupons to work on this, but for me it won't accept any. I've got 20 off 150, 10 off 100 in sporting good, none being allowed.

Yeah, it is a "Hot Buy" now, not allowing any coupons. My friend also tried after I told him.

Free Cash / Surprise Points still work though, and my friend also got $9 back in points - I didn't get those.

I wouldn't get it at this price, doesn't give enough points, and the $20 bucks off (it is ALWAYS at $199.99, never the full retail) without giving use of a coupon just kills it. I've bought 4 of these sets the last couple months, I would normally get it at $199.99, some type of $20 off coupon, then get approx $40 in syw points. required topping order back up to $200 with some filler items, but even still, that was a way better deal overall. Dec is my bday month too so I'll hold off on this, hopefully get it again with a good coupon/free cash offer, and get 10% points back with bday month bonus points.

Would you reccomend this to someone looking for their first set?

I am thinking about purchasing the Gold Gym XRS 20 bench and rack but I don't have any olympic equipment. All my plates and bars are 1" so I'm looking to knock everything out without much hassle.

The weights themselves are fine, was just judging the overall deal. It's not a bad price, just not anything out of the ordinary. I've sold these to a couple personal trainers and some fitness nuts and I've had no complaints. Only knock on it would probably be the bar which maxes at 310lbs. if you don't plan on lifting more than that ever though then it's a nonfactor.

Yes, you are right. Without the $$ off coupon & cashback it is a warm deal at best. Dicks & Academy also have sales at this price regularly. I've bought two of these sets before and didn't have pay more than $150 out of my pocket, plus there was always some money back in points.

Yes, absolutely. This is an excellent set for a beginner, I got this back in March 2016 as my first proper set. I had been messing around with standard weights from CL for about a year and decided to get this along with a Titan T-3 rack.
I really like the weights - hammer-tone finish, nice grips to grab them etc. I liked them so much that I got a second set too. Be careful when handling them new, some of the edges can be sharp. Check the edges and the holes, if you find them sharp or any burrs then take a file or sand paper and smooth it out.

The bar does the job. Only complaint I had was that the bar sleeves are ribbed/grooved and make a grinding noise when loading plates - apparently this is a safety feature. I didn't care much for it but I used it for a year. Then I sold the bar on CL and got a nice stainless steel bar from Rep Fitness as a reward to myself for sticking with lifting for one year.

If you are serious about lifting, I suggest you skip that cheap Gold's Gym bench and go for a proper rack (or squat rack) and flat bench. Not sure what your budget is, but you can get a good rack & a flat bench for about $300.

- Titan Fitness [titan.fitness] is having a 15% off sale this weekend, ends today. The Titan T-2 or T-3 rack and flat bench make for a good combo.
- The Fitness Reality 810XLT rack goes on sale every few months. I think they have a bench too.
- And then there are always deals on CL if you don't mind buying used stuff.

Good luck.

Does anyone know if these weights will fit on to something like the cap standard dumbbell threaded handles? I can't find the specifications to measure the diameter of these to my current weights.

No. These are Olympic Weights with 2" holes. The standard bars are designed for standard weights with 1" holes.
