I believe they have been around for quite a while. I just bought this and downloaded 1.5 gb and they play as mp3 and sound great. English accent very nice.

They are legit. They giveaway a free Christian audiobook each month through an email list if you are interested in that content. I've used them for two years, mostly for the freebies. They sometimes offer a package of 10 audiobooks around the same theme (inspirational, spiritual formation, fiction, leadership) on CD for $10-15.

Christianaudio has been around since 2005. I have a huge library from them. My only problem is their android app is horrible. (I can't speak to their apple app.) It is only a player (no shopping) and it crashes and refuses to play more than half the time. I have a Samsung galaxy S7. If I want to listen to one of my books I have to download it to my phones files. Still, they give me a free book each month.

I have purchased from them in the problem and have had no problems. Originally they required you to download all content, and would not provide you with a server / library like Audible does. They have since switched and now allow you to download any of your purchased books from your library.

If you go to https://www.hoopladigital.com/ and download the Hoopla app for your phone, you can input your local library card and listen to these books for free.

I've been an audible .... uh .... customer for awhile now, but I'd never heard of this site. Glad to hear some good reviews of it.

Unfortunately, the reviews for the narrator that reads LOTR are not good at all. That saddens me big time because I really wanted to DL this and support a site that offers Christian books so cheap. I think I'll pick up the site but not the trilogy.

But seriously, how is it that a book this big in our culture hasn't been read by someone better like Roy Dotrice (God rest him)? So many good narrators out there....

Where are you on Jim Dale vs. Stephen Fry? https://bookriot.com/?p=59239
I want good narrators (they are as important as content to my mind) -- would you give me your top 3, besides Roy Dotrice? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHo_BqKbkCM ;-)

Well, truthfully I haven't listened to any of the Harry Potter books. And I don't guess I've come across either of those two's books, although I'm probably going to pick up some Milne for my kiddos and Fry does work on that.

Its hard to say who my absolute favorite is. I will say that, to date, my favorite match of narrator to story is The Shining by Stephen King. Campbell Scott does a Fantastic job with his deadpan, ominous voice giving the right shade to the story.

I've found Frank Mueller to be consistently fantastic (particularly his dynamic abilities as displayed in 'Drawing of the Three', also by King, God rest him also). Frank also read Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption and I think only Morgan Freeman could have done it better.

The readers of the Stormlight Archive books, Micheal Kramer and Kate Reading are both very good, Particularly Kramer. The more I listen to the rather sizeable Stormlight books (I'm about halfway through the latest), the more I like him. Its hard to imagine that his Storm Father voice and his Sylphrena come from the same throat. His range is very, very impressive. Something else that's somewhat rare: You can tell his women apart just by the sound. Very immersive experience.

Oh, and George Guidall. I was first introduced to George when he replaced Frank Mueller on the Dark Tower series and was initially let down because I had become so invested in Mueller's extremely vivid characters. However, as the hours rolled on, George really got into it and did a great job. He depicted the God Bombing Preacher better than I think most any other narrator could have. It was perfect. I've since listened to his work on the American Assassin books and have been pleased. He makes Stan Hurley alive and he also gives Mitch that bad boy, bad ass sound. His females are also very passable.

Scott Brick was decent in Jurassic Park and the sequel, mainly because he seemed to get Ian Malcom right, but I was less impressed with some of his other works (Bourne Identity, I think).

All the folks who worked on Ender's Game (Stefan Rudnicki, Harlan Ellison, Gabrielle de Cuir and even Card himself) did a wonderful job and I'd suggest that novel to anyone, even those who really don't care for Sci-fi. Its much more a story about a genius boy than it is about science and aliens and whatnot. The sequels, however, are vey much sci-fi. The prequels are good stories too.

That's all I've got at present. Hopefully that helps you and others.

You may want to check out Libby/OverDrive from your library. Free audiobooks. Yea you might have to wait a little bit, but who are you kidding? You've been waiting to listen to them this long anyway.

I paid $100 for these cds about 15 years ago. The narrator was great as far as I could tell. Find a sample somewhere, give it a chance.

Sadly, link was dead for me just now.
