Delete Gmail Contacts from Phone

2,235 8,187 November 30, 2017 at 06:39 PM
So I just got the Pixel XL and in my Contacts app, I see my Gmail contacts with only their email addresses and I am wondering how I can delete or disable this? Or is there a setting to only see the contacts with phone numbers? Thanks again!

There is, under the phone app go to settings, and turn off the one that says to show contacts without phone numbers.

Or you could turn off ALL the gmail contacts.

Not sure why you wouldn't use your Google account as the centralized source of all your contacts, especially if you have an Android phone. It's saved online, syncs automatically, and you can easily manage/combine them through the web interface. Instead of trying to maintain phone-specific records, why not let it combine all the info you have on your contacts onto one list that will survive and be easily downloadable if your phone is stolen/broken?

Also: when you go into a medium-specific app like Messages and open the contacts, it automatically limits them to ones that have a phone number. Same with Gmail and email addresses. The only place that has all of them is the general view in the Contacts app.
