I used it from top down and it was in 6 inch stove pipe (about 25 ft). Must use a powerful drill.
I just use the sticks like i did before I bought this one... and still do (top down) .... BYMMV

Needed better drill further you went...and didn't feel like it was cleaning as good as the brush.
I also think It jammed into a joint and it bent (pried) out a lip (on stainless insulated pipe) that now catches condensate that runs down the chimney...(after using I observed this damage).

What happens when the debris come down and get stuck on top of the fireplace insert or dampers, and hard to reach to vacuum?
I'm thinking of putting the fireplace to use after owning the house for 7 years. Need to put an insert in it first.
