And yes, I'm aware watches don't use up much energy in general, but still!
I usually wear my dress watch for work, and switch to these when I go biking, swimming, play ball, or to the range. Its very reliable.

Aside from different styling, some are automatic (radio set time), some have extra modes (multiple alarms, stop watch, world time, DST), some are partially illuminated whereas others the entire display is illuminated, the "tough" models are more impact resistant, some can be submerged at greater depths of water, etc. I have a Casio Tough Solar that I bought two years ago and it's a great watch for mountain biking where I can beat it up and it keeps working. Also, it only cost $20, so even if I do break it, no big deal. I have a couple other Casio watches. One is an automatic "ana-digi" and looks nice enough for casual dress. The other is completely digital with an extra large display that I use at the gym. It has a prominent graph that counts down with the seconds that I like to use when resting between sets. It also auto-illuminates when I simply raise my wrist to look at my watch, which comes in handy at night or when I'm in a dimly lit shooting range. And unlike my Apple Watch, which I only use when I go running, if I were to scratch my cheap Casio at the gym, no big deal. To each his own.
