I purchased the 1000 as I need a small reel and after I read more reviews, I was scared off and cancelled my order. not a fan of seeing "I received this product at a promotional price in exchange for my unbiased review."

I've had a kastking sharky reel before and it worked great for a couple years until it fell apart from the whole thing being composed of plastics

Suggestions for beginner reel for a 6 year old? Don't want to get the kids ninja turtle rod which I am sure will fall apart quickly.

If your kid is just beginning to fish I would either start them off with a push button or one of the spin cast reels

I caught 1000+ fish on this reel over 8 months an the reel is as smooth as I got it an the drag is still perfect it has never been greased. So I don't believe the d or c ratings I would at least give it a b+. An plan to use it all next year I definitely got way more than the $35 I paid for it out of the reel an expect to get even more out of it. Would 100% recommend
