This is a quote from EVGA responding to power supplies worries:
"We did have an issue with some earlier power supplies, but this has since been corrected. If you do have problems with the power supply for the laptop, contact us at [email protected] or by phone at 888-881-3842 and we should be able to assist."

EVGA is known for having excellent customer service, I wouldn't worry in the least!
If you even bother to look at the laptop, the chassis is built entirely with cnc milled aluminum. No hint of plastic anywhere. And all reviews point to build quality and feel as one of it's selling points.
Nope no nerve struck here. "They have metallic finishes" on a plastic laptop and this is a metal laptop, kind of different? Move along and comment on $300 laptops from box stores where someone may listen to you..

I purchased the SC17 with the 980m 4k a few weeks ago at Newegg for 1k and I love it... But be forewarned it is a big machine. OC is super simple with the built in program.. Build quality is stellar, fans are quiet in normal use and noticeable when you boost them.. This is my benchmark with the 980m. http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/6068323. Obviously the 1070 would be awesome if you game...

I bought the 980m a few weeks ago too, but will return it (unopened) for an upgraded version.

I'm choosing the 1080 version, because it has thunderbolt support as opposed to the other models. It's expensive, but a great deal!

Well you are taking a chance on a "lesser" known brand.. You will have to like massively solid build quality and super fast performance. If you want a small toy laptop like the Dell on front page these are not for you. There are some reports of power supply failing... The only real drawback is that they are not upgradeable as everything is hard soldiered to the MB from my understanding... I put my benchmarks above but I have the 980m version and it is extremely fast running machine (I'm photo editing). The 1070 will smoke mine if you are a gamer. The 4k screen is gorgeous and mine covers like 99.7% sRGB and 92% RGB...

Should I pull the trigger on this one? Something about it seems too good to be true. Looks like power supplies as crap looking at Amazon reviews.

Since I am a big-time touchpad user (would be using this for programming), I am going to heed the Amazon reviewer's warning about the touchpad position relative to the keyboard. Looks like it could be a bit annoying. That, plus I don't care for the thick frame around the screen. Trying to talk myself out of this Smilie

Bought one. Gonna attempt to sell it for profit lol solid deal. Thanks OP.
Considered this myself, but you're taking a huge risk considering the cost, underwhelming reviews and subpar thermal design. You better pray nothing goes wrong.

Ebay one does not have the free backpack or mouse unless I missed it.
