How useful is 20 lumens, really? Seems maybe okay for things right in front of your face & not much more.

If these are the same ones in the sporting goods section, they run off of a cr2032 battery and are lightweight and have a metal loop to hook onto your hats brim. They're blinding to look at but the flood is so wide the three LEDs don't really seem very bright as the older gen LEDs. But great price and do work and I bet work well with the lower power suckage of the new led style.

This is correct. Assume maybe half the strength of your camera phone's flash light. My comment would have come before yours but I was still writing a long one.
