I just picked up 1 TB Samsung 850 evo ssd drive from Monoprice's eBay store - it's $265, or $243 with the current 8% CB. Been watching and haven't seen it this cheap in while, was recently $250 + tax from samsung directly

Good news for everybody. Prices for SSDs will soon be falling like a rock. Thanks to me breaking down and buying this drive for $265 (with possibly up to $22 back, granted), you should all start to see the bottom fall out of the SSD market. You'll be able to get this drive for $180 very shortly. You are welcome.
Thanks for taking the hit so I didn't have to . . . I'll let the family know that Little Billy can still have the operation. Merry Christmas

ps people keep saying prices will fall for memory, too, but they don't. they keep being higher. And the prices on the 960 are NOT dropping. it's just this one outdated model.

I have a 960 evo as my boot drive, I believe it only comes in nvme form factor - the 850 evo is older, but still their latest 2.5" drive available. They're pretty much the best drives out there, probably not a lot to improve on since limited by sata3 speed limits

nvme is better, though, in some situations. I'd rather have the 750 than another brand's SSD, regardless. But I am just saying technically it's an older model. Have they announced a 1070 yet, btw?

Maybe I'd buy an 850 in the right situation. But for me, using google express deals the 250gb 850 is only like $20 less than the 960, so no point then. And this price is still way too high for 1tb, so really I should probably just get the 960 and then a standard HDD.

Still waiting on the 960 EVO's to drop in price, particularly the 1TB. For the past 2 years Samsung has brought out their new models in the fall and there were big discounts on Black Friday for the previous versions but not this year. Still riding my 840 EVO I paid $360 for in 2014.

Tired of all these 850 deals and no 960 ones. If this were the same price on google express where I could sue the credit and discount code, I'd maybe do it since it's 1tb and I could get by with no other drives... Otherwise, I might as well get a 250gb 960 because 500gb is about pointless... would be too little for an only drive for storage, but too big for what i'd ened when using it only for programs.
The 250gb would have served me well enough as a boot drive, but I opted for the 500gb due to the performance boost (on part with the 1tb)...

When do you think it will drop to 150?
