Has anyone used this before? I have a loose internal HD that I need to copy the contents to another PC but this one seems to have more features than I need.

There are simple usb cables that can do 2.5"/3.5" for around $10. For 3.5" you need power too.

This one is $13

Cables can only connect 1 at a time. Product in the post can connect 2 so its like having 2 separate cables. If you transfer data often and have both 2.5/3.5" drives, then sure. Otherwise, i would go with cheap cable. This isnt much of a "deal" anyway.

yes you can use this, but does the other PC you're coping to have a 2.5"/3.5" SSD/HDD?
This device does not support a NVME or M.2 sata drive connector.

With that said, is the other computer on the same network? If so, you should be able to copy the contents from one drive to another through a simple file share. Lots of how-to vids on YouTube.

Another option is pull the HDD from the old computer, put into the Orico dock, then plug the usb cable from new pc into the dock. On the new PC it will appear as another drive, like a USB thumbdrive. You can easily, and VERY quickly copy the contents from the old HDD to the new computer.

With all that said, this is a great price IMHO for such a unit As noted above, a $13 option is probably all you need.
Very few people will ever use the drive cloning feature. I've used a couple in the past at my work... was so slow and had lots of disadvantages.

I hope this helped

Now my current work we clone drives as part of digital forensics, but not with a device like the Orico.
Funny this deal came up, I actually used two external drive docks at my home recently... had a ton of old 3.5" SATA and PATA drives I wiped then donated to my local schools for STEM classes.

I am not totally agree to the cheaper solution. Just $11 more you can do a lot more.

If i was transfering data all the time, sure desktop stand version is cool.

This person is recovering data from one old PC. It might be one time use and store away till end of time.

also, this is an everyday price for 2 slot dock generic brand. here is one for $20.

Got one today, it's really slow with 32MBps read write where the same drive gets 200 in a different enclosure

Also if you are using Mac formatted drives and the drive wasn't partitioned with the same block type it can't use the drive unless it's reformatted.

Not super.

I've used this brand but not the exact model to successfully clone drives. That includes the Windows operating system when I wanted to move from platter drive to SSD. Had no issues booting with new cloned drive.

Try this. I got it last week and it's been working great. Only $9.99. It has both USB-A and USB-C so I can even connect it to my phone. The power supply is only needed for 3.5" drives. 2.5" drives and SSDs can run off USB power alone. You can even power them off the USB-C port on your phone for true portability.

I got this other dock for $20 last month and am really happy with it. In addition to the standard cloning function, it also has two USB-A ports and a card reader. And you can turn on the LED light show for mood lighting. It only has 3.4 stars because it's weighed down by a few questionable reviews. One 3 star review complains that the 2A power supply is too weak. That's a standard supply for all these cheap docks. And it works just fine for me with 2 x 8tb drives inserted in addition to charging my phone on one of the USB ports. I even turn on the light show sometimes.
