JayBird X3 Sport Wireless In-Ear Headphones (various colors) Expired

I have a love hate with these.

Pros:
1) They are great buds with a legitimately long battery life - these do last all day long.
2) Numerous options to seat in the ear securely and comfortably. Even on long runs I've never had them fall out.
3) They sound as good as other wireless earbuds that I've used.
4) They sync easily and consistently and never drop connection.

The problems:
1) the proprietary charger - not a super big deal due to the long battery life - you shouldn't need to charge throughout the day, but if you lose the dongle or forget to pack it on a trip, the buds are useless

2) the proprietary charger - the charger holds in the buds in place via little plastic clips. These can eventually fatigue and cause the buds to unseat during charging.

3) durability - I am on my 3rd pair (second exchange) due to the earbuds failing. Google search "jaybird x3 red light" and you will see many hits where the charging light either will not turn on or will never turn off - either way, the buds will not charge and are useless. On the positive side, customer support made the exchange relatively painless.

Completely subjective, and in my opinion inaccurate. As I mentioned in the Anker head, I've owned double digit pairs of China buds from all the popular brands (Anker, Aukey, Soundpeats, Keiser and so on). There isn't one that comes close in sound quality to these or the F5's. You're either not wearing them properly, whether it's the seal, wring sized tips or just not inserted deep enough. Or you're just tone deaf. Or your mind is playing tricks as it justifies the cheap price. I would think they sound really close until I would use the F5's or X5's again, and realize they do have more detail and depth. Still not my wired buds, bud I don't use BT for any sort of critical listening. They are for convenience only. Even the new equipment at my gym has BT.

That said, I had these cut out in one ear twice. I sold the last replacement pair and picked up the F5's and haven't looked back.

And the proprietary charger? They are cheap to replace or to buy an extra. The idea they will lose their clip ability is just ludicrous. There is no basis for it, and you're just creating shit out of fear. After owning a few BT devices with proprietary chargers, I've grown accustomed to them. I like the quick snap on/snap off ability. I'm. Not constantly pushing and pulling a micro USB plug in and out which usually ends up with cable pins flattening out or something loosening up and not charging properly. If they added USB-C then I'd be happy since it clips in nicely and should be a more reliable connection for the long haul. Either way, adding the connector onto the pod or earpiece adds more bulk than the conductive dots.

Also, with the app, you can fine tune the sound even more to your liking which should further the SQ differences between them and the China buds. I also don't like silicone. I'm solely foam on the tips which also cost extra for most China buds. Cable management is another issue, and very few China buds come with cable management clips. I always keep spare jaybird ones around and ended up using them on the China buds.
