Sony PlayStation Store has the Minecraft Birthday Skin Pack sets (1-4) currently available for free download. These are only available for a limited time once a year.

I noticed that, too.

It's the first time it's asked for my card on a free item. I added my card and removed it after I made the purchase. I then purchased other free items from PSN to test it and it didn't ask me for it. Maybe it's the Minecraft packs... but I'm not 100% sure.

Wow. Just tried it and it's the same for me.

Not gonna do it. I've never had a credit card on my PSN account and I'm not going to add one just for a skin for the kid to ignore on minecraft.

I agree, there shouldn't be any requirement for a credit card for free thing. However with Xbox it's the same thing for everything, so I'm kind of used to it. I was able to just add an old Visa gift card and that worked. You could probably do PayPal and just set a limit.
