Our research indicates that the BeyerDynamic DT-880 Premium SE 600 Ohm Chrome Headphones + iFi Micro IDSD Amplifier / Dac is $229 lower (31% savings) than the next best available price from a reputable merchant with prices starting from $728. -Corwin
full list price, yes. but the DAC/amp has been on sale for as low as $379 and the cans for as low as $159. so $500 for both is still a pretty sweet deal.

I got the same references and thought this was a lukewarm deal considering their low prices. I just want the iFi but flipping the Beyer will not get me much. I'm better off waiting for the 379 again.

880 @600Ohm is the sweetest cans in DT series (my fave) $120 and no tax is steal go for it ! You will thank me later

I have been also waiting for the iFi micro to drop lower than $379 stand alone but so far no luck. If you are willing to pay $379 for the iFi then an extra $121 for the cans is a pretty good deal. If you don't need the cans, you can always save it as a nice present to someone special like your significant other.

Any chance you know how it compares to a Oppo PM-2. Yeah planar vs dynamic, but I just bought it used and it's on its way. I need to something to drive it, so was looking at iDSD micro as one of the choices. If both the cans are pretty similar, I will wait for the solo deal.
I can always research and read about them, but just wanted to ask if you have an idea.

I tried PM-3's (not 2! are you getting it from overseas ?!) - loved the sound and they are pretty comfy - but didn't care for leatherette / @$400 a pop - OPPO could have used better material ! in general planar is a more pleasing "sound delivery technology" (no OPPO but a few audeze, all fostex and played w/almost all hifiman) you can listen to planar louder and it's a less fatiguing experience for longer listening sessions !
now - as far as beyer go ! properly driven ! (idsd in a perfect and portable (!) match) you will get a far more responsive headphones ! better ? (no) - more of a different experience - lows will be freakishly detailed and punchy, and much more ! anyway 880s are one of the best values in HPs ! bet you if you will like OPPOs you will keep both !
