I bought the batteries 2 weeks ago. Got the rewards right after. Found a FP deal bag and bought it. You can always buy other stuff from OfficeDepot - they will price match Walmart and other places. Worst case, you can just buy postage stamps if you have the need.
I wouldnt use the well earned points on overpriced batteries. Makes sense?
If you want to earn more points, buy another set with your card and get those points. But dont burn your reward points on buying these batteries since you wont get more bonus reward points for it.

- Ordered 2 AA packages.
- Received the 2 packages.
- For some weird reason one of the tracking instead of delivered showed "The receiver determined this is a duplicate product order and has refused the delivery. / The package will be returned to the sender.". Take in consideration I never determined anything and that's a false statement.
- Office Depot refunded one of the packages and completely deleted my rewards...
Now I have 2 AA packages for $15.99+tax plus $0 rewards....
Not sure what happened here, it seems to me that Office Depot maybe sent 3 packages, recalled one, UPS put whatever they wanted in the status, Office Depot refunded one and killed my rewards...

Which comes out to 64 batteries for $38 ($35 for first set, and only $3 for second set)
Amazon Basics AA batteries go for:
$12.50 (48-pack) and a $24 (100-pack)
I can see that this deal would be great for those who frequently shop at OfficeDepot/Max (like supplies for their business or something) because they would be purchasing other things instead to spend the certificate on that would not have bonus rewards associated with it.

But given the bad experiences that often happen when things don't go EXACTLY right, I would not recommend someone to do all this just to get "free" batteries.
BTW - big thanks as always to bpvh for having the deal spelled out with such clarity.
Hoping I get another set of rewards again. Very sweet deal.
