Has any of you recently been able to use the MileagePlus X app either on Android or iOS to successfully buy GCs?

If so, can you share which GCs you've recently been able to buy using that app and when the most recent transaction/purchase one was?

And, have you tried buying GCs through MileagePlus X app and pay with your UAL MileagePlus miles?

For example, I see the app currently shows $5 Walmart GC is supposed to be payable with 909 miles.

I'm trying to extend my 18-month expiration period by buying and paying using miles (instead of using credit card) but it keeps failing saying "Your transaction cannot be completed this time. Please email for assistance." and I never heard back from

Also, do you happen to have a Chase United credit card added to the MileagePlus X app? I'm wondering if that's a factor because one cannot buy eGCs through MileagePlus' own Web site if you don't have certain credit cards.

Thanks for any help and pointers on how to successfully buy GC using MileagePlus X app to extend my expiring miles.

I can't answer the question about the app, but there are other simple ways to extend your mileage.

You can donate miles: https://secure.unitedmileageplus....lesSSO.jsp

Or if you have a credit card such as Chase or a rewards program that lets you transfer points to miles, that will also work.

I signed up for Mileage Plus dining a long time ago to extend at one point. It's also good in a pinch.

Agree with previous poster on extension methods. Best ones I've used are a normal CC purchase via Mileage Plus X or donate miles. These are both good since they post nearly immediately. Other methods take time and risk missing extension window if your too close.
