This is the 2nd-gen Ecobee3. Yes, they made 2 versions of this model because the 2nd gen later incorporated Apple Homekit support which required an internal HW revision which this one has. Also, 2 room sensors alone go for $58 on Amazon, but you're getting 3 here. Quite the deal.

I bought one to replace our Nest 2nd-gen because I'm tired of freezing my a$$ off in my master. Thanks for the deal. Repped.
Looks like costco owes me 20 bucks from my purchase 11 days ago.

I got in on this deal last time around and have been waiting for something for something similar. This thing is incredible. I just bought a second for my garage heater and will use the extra sensors around the house on my original one.

I don't think they offer price matching. Should I just return the old one and buy again?

Edit: It's still new in box.

Is there a difference between the version of last FrontPage deal @200$ vs this one? Is it literally all things being equal and 20$ cheaper?

$199.99 was always the regular price, you could've walked in and bought it any time. It should have never made the frontpage last time. This is a decent deal, though not as good as $170 during Black Friday, especially if you needed 2+ and could use the $25 off $250 coupon.

Just got my first home recently and want to replace the thermostat. I have dual zones 1 thermostat downstairs and 1 in the master upstairs. I never dealt with these before so would both zones be controlled by 1 thermostat downstairs? I was thinking of getting the ecobee4 for downstairs and if I had to replace upstairs with the ecobee3.

No, you need 1 thermostat per HVAC unit.
