Other options:

This unit is a Hikvision OEM product, resold and rebranded by a number of brands.
Example: LTS, Nelly's Security, LaView, RCA, ..

You maybe able to find the RCA branded version of this even cheaper at time from Menards.

Quote from slicktravel :
Menards has the RCA version of this camera for $133 after 11% rebate. Not bad if you don't mind the in store rebate.

Remember to update the firmware as there has been recent updates which improve the functionality.

This is a good option for those who like local storage options for their doorbell cams.

Is this available in any brick and mortar stores?

How would you connect an NVR, etc to it? can it be connecting to home automation hubs, such as Smartthings?

Missed their BF deal and regretted it but not sure if it would be any better than Ring Pro. Local storage would be great for me since I have xpenology available.

Hi Supernoman,

Ring Pro is a nice product, however iirc it is completely tied to a successful round trip to the ring cloud service for functionality and there is no rtsp feed available locally. ( if someone knows how to get a local rtsp video feed from the Ring Pro or other ring products please let us know ).

Since Ring had a major outage during Halloween 2017, where numerous people reported trick or treaters coming to the door and the chime failing to ring on a doorbell press - that is a bit of a significant problem.

So, I would say - YES a video doorbell product which is not dependent on cloud connectivity for the chime to work IS much better

I turned my alerts off during Halloween. Made little sense for me to get notified that many times. Unnecessary load on ring servers.

LOL, that can be a LOT of alerts depending on your hood...

Are people upgrading to mainline Hik firmwares or just dealing with whatever junk the OEMs are providing? I see there's 3 or 4 OEM clones and all seem to be a little different.

Can we buy any of them (I saw some RCAs for cheaper on ebay) and apply Hik firmware and all end up with the same unit?

Or are there actually differences across all the rebadging?

mat2000, what're you thoughts on integrating this with the Lorex/Dahua NVR from the Costco deal? I find that I typically record 24/7 to the NVR and use the motion detection for email notifications.

HI Psumarsh,

Good questions - from what I have read, I got the impression that the firmware is basically the same w/only slight differences for branding and maybe user/password stuff

Hi iWeasel,

There's actually Dahua OEM video intercom doorbells which maybe worth checking out, as that in theory should be more compatible imho.

This Hikvision OEM video doorbell looks like a good one, and people have reported that they were able to get it to work with the Lorex NVR. Don't recall if they are using ONVIF setting on it, you'd have to pop over to ipcamtalk and see what has been shared on it.

Nothing personal mat2000 but you sure do seem to post a lot of these Chinese cameras, respond a lot the comments, always gleaming responses for the product you posted.

It'd seem as if you were being paid to do it. I know nobody on Slickdeals would ever think of ways of making a profit or anything, but it certainly seems that way.

Either way you're efficient at driving sales.

Or he could install cameras for a living or have HA/security as a hobby. Believe it or not, some people actually take time to post here to be helpful without an ulterior motive. I don't get a shill vibe from his posts at all.

Pretty crappy to throw that accusation around considering you have zero proof.
