Full review of the lens: http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/...vr-afp.htm

Here are a couple other reviews. Ken can be a bit over the top sometimes. Or a total douchebag.

https://www.ephotozine.com/articl...view-30569

Following are the reviews of the FX (full frame) version of the lens. It is not the same as the one in this deal, although it can be used on DX cameras:

https://www.camerastuffreview.com...6e-ed-vr-2

Also here is the Nikon compatibility chart for this lens. It is DX and only fully functioning with some of the newer bodies.

**The lens will default to VR on when attached to models released prior to the D3400: D3300, D5500, D5300, D5200, D7200, D7100. These cameras will also require a firmware upgrade to access the menu to turn off the VR.

The number of cameras compatible with both lenses is limited. Even for compatible cameras, firmware update may be required*. Fully compatible models: D7500, D5600, D5500, D5300*, D3400, D3300*, D500 and later models

Compatible models with limited functions: D5, D810 series, Df, D750, D7200, D7100, D5200, Nikon 1 series with the FT1

Incompatible models: D4 series, D3 series, D2 series, D1 series, D800 series, D700, D610, D600, D300 series, D200, D100, D7000, D5100, D5000, D90, D80, D70 series, D3200, D3100, D3000, D60, D50, D40 series, film cameras

Any opinions or actual experience with refurbished lenses? I recently upgraded my nikon camera body, only to find that my old wide angle and zoom lenses weren't fully compatible. Now I'm looking at copious amounts of money for replacements and am curious if this would be asking for trouble...

Great lens for the money.... especially for outdoors...the new af-p focus motor is extremely fast and quiet....make sure your new body supports it.

Seems like a great price. I wish I would have bought this over the 200mm.

I bought this lens refurbished for the same price 10 months ago. I'm just a casual photographer so I don't take a TON of pictures. But this lens is still working as new and takes great pictures.

EDIT: I paid $160... and I didn't get the hood with it. :|

I'll take the risk. In for one. Don't want to spend 300-400 for new one.

thanks for posting this. Lately buydig has become pretty reliable so I don't see an issue with this.

I used to have this lens and at the long end it does a beautiful job of blurring out the background

I don't believe the hood comes with this one either. Look at the tab for package contents.

I've been looking for a deal on this lens. Got 1.

So how did the OP find out about the coupon code and deal?

I have a refurb and I'm a casual user (family pics/sports)- can't tell the difference. Looks brand new.

I would like it but i don't think I need it. I'm buying it anyway. Or should I not? I don't know. I guess I'll just toss a coin.

The "add to cart" button doesn't work....maybe that's a sign.
