Compare to $59 NEW + FS [tanga.com] Wave (some reports of false advertising, might actually be refurbished)

This router can be flashed to an AC-68U (currently $136 on Amazon) by following these flashing instructions: http://www.bayareatechpros.com/ac1900-to-ac68u/

Once you flash it to a AC68U, you can instal ASUS stock, Merlin, DD-WRT or Tomato.

1) I used this guide to flash the AC1900 to AC68U so that AiMesh can be setup.

http://www.bayareatechpros.com/ac1900-to-ac68u/

2) I just updated a day before yesterday using the above guide. I haven't done any of this stuff in a few years so had to struggle but was able to read up a lot and finally figured out a few things on my own. If you follow the above guided steps AiMesh WILL NOT WORK unless you use a CFE file that has AiMesh support.

3) So on step 15 instead of
Upload original_cfe.bin to https://cfeditor.pipeline.sh/ > Select 1.0.2.0 US as Source

Use:
Upload original_cfe.bin to https://cfeditor.pipeline.sh/ > Select 1.0.2.0 US AiMesh as Source (option 3)

4) I flashed the AC1900 to AC68U and then had to read a lot to understand the CFE part as I kept pulling out my hair to get AiMesh to work as its supposed to work out of the box but my 2 routers would not see each other no matter what. I used another users CFE file to do the steps and that worked but updating the above steps would have netted the same result.

5) I had to turn off the "Airtime Fairness" as wifi kept dropping on the Mesh Node (second router) .
6) Under Roaming assistant I had to adjust the dbs accordingly 2.4=-70; 5=-90

Ask me any other questions from the guide and I can try to help.

Picked one up on last slick deal for 39.99 from T-mobile. Loaded Merlin and then linked it with my old ac66u (Merlin). Flawless set up. No issues and it's been a few months. Thumbs up for the router. A slick deal at $40. $50 is a coin flip.
Get the Tmobile direct vs this seller, Mobile Dist. Got three faulty routers in a row from him during these deals and will never buy from him again. Waste of time.

Currently using one and love it! Note that this sometimes goes on sale directly from t-mobile for $40 though I'm not sure how often that is.

Is that directly through T-mobile's website? I've not seen the certified refurbished unit below 48.

One review on Amazon said his unit had dead cockaroaches in it. Gross. Staying away from refurbs!

Bought one at $48 a month ago and couldnt be happier. Thinking of getting another one to try AiMesh. My only fear is bricking it. Can that happen? Has anyon etried the aimesh, how are the results? also, can i add the second router over wifi instead of wired connection? will it work as effectively? from what i gathered, using wired creates a backhaul. not sure if done over wifi, it will be any good.

Anyone using these with aimesh after converting? I have 2 and the node one disconnects after a day or so. I'm going to switch them to see if making the node the main router and the main the node.
