On a more serious note, the Switch has been a "hot" selling console recently. It's also a significant upgrade in hardware from the Wii U (or any of the previous Nintendo consoles). That's why many titles are being offered on a Nintendo console for the first time (hence why many people are willing to buy them).
Some eShop games were also offered on the Wii U, but apparently not as many Nintendo players invested in that console (or so the stats say). Hence, many people that skipped that console are also seeing these titles for the first time (on a Nintendo product).
That being said, the Nintendo Switch definitely has changed console gaming for the better. Nowadays to most people, portability is a desireable (if not the most important) quality in gaming. Now that you can purchase a game on the Switch, and play it docked or on the road right where you left off... that is huge (for Nintendo players). No more buying a Wii/Wii U copy, then another watered-down 3DS copy (with no progress-syncing). This type of console is needed to re-vitalize the console-gaming industry.

It's almost like Nintendo fans are paying a premium for these games to come to the Switch console last.
If people will pay a higher price, then why not?

I have both and my wife and I rarely play the Wii U will we play the switch much more. When it first came out I didn't even realize the Wii U was a new console like most people. While I have rebought some games for the switch I've been waiting for sales and even with lower resolutions it's still great.
flame In flood looks interesting, I have an xbox and game pass so that game is included at no additional cost, may still pick up for switch though for the price.

Its a fairly new console in an industry thats a few years ahead in a console generation. A lot of these games were developed without the switch in mind because it wasnt unveiled yet or they were already deep in development, so resources and money have to be reinvested for a new port so youre not going to see prices that match the other versions that have been out longer.
This will likely even out in the future when newer 3rd party games have the switch in mind during development.

I have had the Wii, Wii U, and hopefully soon the Switch. Wii I played a handful of times. Wii U I set it up and just left it sitting there (literally).
Contrast that to my 3DS XL (both old version and NEW version) which gets the most use out of them all. It's just much more convenient when you're not/can't be sitting down in front of a TV.

Everything is better when portable.
Everything is better as a well-ported portable.
