In for 2. We've been trying for #2 and it kills me to test every month. It's like peeing on a $7 bill. Those tests are so freakin expensive.

There's always the Dollar Store tests. Then you're only peeing on a $1 bill. Rofl2

Or you could have the two that are sitting in a bag under my bathroom cabinet. Big Grin

But yeah, I saw those too. I was like "Oh man! I paid $1 for each test when I could have gotten them for $.18 each!!" Then I remembered I only needed one. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

All I can say is ... Wow. Blink Faint Bigeye Quite the range of topics over the last 30 pages!

Still trying to catch myself up on things since having the baby. Thank goodness she's an angel, or I'd be too far behind to ever catch up! May all those expecting be blessed with such a one as my Eva. Too cute for words, and just a mother's dream baby - already on a schedule and sleeping 6 hours at night, at just 4 weeks. I was so expecting the first month to be horrendous like it was with my first two. Thank you, God!!! heart

Not to dredge up an old subject, but regarding the whole potty-training thing - my son turned 3 in August, and is JUST NOW finally getting it, after working on it for 10 months! EEK! Thankfully, I found out that his daddy was the exact same way. I made him call his mom to see how he was with potty training, and she laughed at him. Big Grin Said it took over a year (while his 2 brothers only took a month), and nothing she tried worked with him until it finally "clicked" in his head. ANd he was well over 3 when that happened. That made me feel SO much better, 'cause I was really doubting my abilities as a mom. nod Anyway, just goes to show that every child is different - doesn't matter what the books say, your child is going to learn it when he's ready.

Now here's hoping my 2yo daughter catches on much more quickly. laugh out loud It'd be awesome to only have to buy diapers for one!!!

Is anyone doing super doubles at Kmart this week? I'm gonna go, even if its just to get diapers. The $2 coupons doubled will make for a pretty cheap deal, considering there aren't any diaper deals going on currently. At least not at stores in my area.

For anyone with a Safeway in your area, there's a great deal going on currently (ends today, though) for juice. Buy 5, get $5 off your order. Includes some juices that with the promo end up being just $1, and then you can use MFQs to make them free. Since I can't seem to find any of the cheap juice boxes at Target lately, this is really helping my juice supply. Big Grin

Secret I'm on hubby number 3. Finally found the right one heart

My first husband was great guy and I have no problems with him, we just got married waaay to young (17). Second hubby was another story! I learned lots about support and custody issues with him. Haven't seen him (or child support) in years. He's got plenty of warrants though.

The judge is going to do what is in the best interest of the child
. Worst case scenario is he will petition court and you all will get a hearing...judge will hear that he has been absent....and you go from there. Not sure of your situation but I HIGHLY DOUBT he will try and get custody. He has to prove you unfit first. (You can do the same for him and keep him away if you need to)

Ok, I could go on FOREVER about this. PM me if you need any more advice. I'd love to help.
Calling BS on that one from personal experience. Politics are also involved - pray you never get a judge that is pro father's rights...

well he doesnt really have a great record when they look into that. Plus he has never been able to hold a job longer than about 6 months. Plus he would fail a drug test on the spot if I requested it that day. I really don't see him wanting to fight for custody, because like I said he is gone 354 days of the year. He can't even freaking call to see how he is...and maybe about 2 times a year he will send me a message on myspace. His dad was the same way and I have it in writing from him saying "I have turned into the person that I hated my whole life"

I didn't realize that you were trying for another - very exciting! Make sure to get some sobe! Cheap PG tests are a must if you're trying, but as SB pointed out above, it only takes one... that is unless you are like me:

-with first DS - tested waaaay too early and kept testing until we got our +
-with second DS - didn't realize I was PG until later and kept testing b/c I didn't believe it ("these things must be broken" - lol) - I didn't intent to get PG that soon after DS1, so I was in shock for a LONG time (might still be in shock Rofl2 )

My personal experience (x2) is not BS. The judge carried out the law as it should be and looked out for the best interest of the child. Sometimes that best interest means having that father in their life...sometimes it doesnt. If you are concerned, ask for a Guardian Ad Litem. This person is an advocate for the child and digs deep and finds out more about whats best.

Plus, the judge can give him every possible visitation, still doesnt mean the SOB is ever going to show up and pick up his kids. shake head

Now, sometimes you get a shady judge that is tired of seeing the men get the shat end of the deal (yes, sometimes women can be unfair) and decides to abuse his power and take it out on all mothers. So wrong in so many ways because the child should be the focus.

With his track record HollaBack~ you're probably not going to have much to worry about...except collecting the support. Hope all went well for you.

Ok...I was gonna so stay out of this but I gotta give sky a little support.......

They do NOT always do whats in the best interest of the child. My brother took care of his daughter by himself for the first FIVE years of her life....mommy comes back and decides she wants to actually be a mommy for the first time in five years.....my brother went into it with the blindfaith that the judge would do what's best for the child and he has not had physical custody of his daughter for 8 years now. Not only was the mother awarded custody but she was allowed to move 3 hours north with the child.

They are no longer taking the GC's online either. You can email them and get a "gift certificate" that can be used online ONLY if the giftcard was bought at kbtoys.com. If it was bought any other way you are screwed. Frown
Well now that just sucks donkey balls. WTH?! They are still in business, still selling their products online, they should have to honor them. Before I posted that they were still being accepted, I went to their site and adding an item to my cart and began the checkout process to see if they still took them. I didn't complete the checkout, but got to a screen to enter a promo code or certificate. It said to not enter your gift card here, you would be prompted to enter the gift card info on a later page. I stopped there assuming they still accepted the gift cards. Sorry.

I personally had fair judges and wanted to offer HollaBack a little positive support.
I'm sorry you felt like you needed to support Sky like I was ganging up on her and calling her post BS. I wasn't. I can't use my experience to call her experience BS. Trust me, I know that the judge does NOT always do whats best...but does what HE thinks is best. Really sucks for a stranger to decide your future based on whats on a piece of paper. *Yep I agree with Sky's post....lucky/screwed based on written facts.

I didn't mean for it to sound like I was disagreeing. I totally agree that yes those situations do happen, but the judge is supposed to look out for whats best for the child. I worked for DSS and would like to think that what I put into it wasn't in vain.

Jen~ what did your brother try? Did he get a Guardian Ad Litem? Can he go to where she resides now and petition? Oh those kind of judges just make me mad Mad
So sad on so many levels...for your brother and niece
He hasn't had custody, but has he gotten to see her? Gosh I bet that is tough. hug

Oh, that is awful! I hate it when it's automatically assumed that the mom is the best thing for the child (especially if she wasn't even there for the first 5 yrs!!). Fathers can be great caregivers if given the chance (as your brother showed in taking care of his DD for five years)! I'm so sorry your brother did not get custody. hug

Yes, it's the premiere date of Battlestar Galactica (woot)! I'm a true nerd with that show... Finally I'll be able to get some answers for the final half of the season! nod

It's this Friday!! Whee

I don't have a baby, but this is free baby food for those who have a Kroger nearby.

This week, Beech-Nut is on sale.
Beech-Nut Stage 2 Baby Food 4 oz 25/$10 (.40 each)
Beech-Nut Stage 3 Baby Food 6 oz 12/$6 (.50 each)

There were coupons for Beech-Nut in both the S 1/4 and the S10/26.
1.00/10 (S 1/4) -- these are coded for 4 jars
1.50/8 (S10/26)-- these are coded for 2 jars
FREE baby food! Big Grin

Uhmmmm I didn't say you were ganging up on her...I was supporting what she said with my story, I thought that was pretty obvious.

They have a visitation schedule set up, I think he didn't fight the decision because he was trying to make the transition as easy as possible for the daughter.

I know, just reinerating because you said "Ok...I was gonna so stay out of this but I gotta give sky a little support......." Didn't want anyone to think they needed to break out the popcorn. When you type something, people on the receiving end dont always know what you mean so I didnt want what I typed to come across wrong...kwim?

Anyway..Sky, what happened in your situation? Got shat on by a crappy judge? There are always "those" judges. Frown

ETA~ better smilie for crappy judges Bonk
