I hate that thy call these 'Cedar' when it's really 'Chinese Cedar' which is actually Cypress - the same 'Cedar' used in backyard play sets. Real cedar would be significantly more expensive, I just wish they were upfront with the customer with what they're actually getting. Cypress doesn't hold up as well as cedar, but that's also the cost trade off.

Before assembling I would definitely use a quality stain and seal on all the lumber appropriate to the climate it's in. And then follow up with regular maintenance, just like any other wood that's exposed to the elements.

Seems like a fair price, but I will never understand the point of a pergola. I'm a fair-skinned fella and when I want out of the sun, this doesn't do it.

I plan to grow vines and climbing plants. The additional trellis on top will help provide additional cover too

They also have the none electrical version for $599. I picked one up, the cost of wood alone is comparable but without the extra labor.

I attached a picture of the different options.I bought the one for $599 but not after a manager assuring me the only difference is the electric option. Mine came in 3 large boxes each weighing around 200# each.

21 people who have apparently never walked around a sams club. A sams club sale doesn't end in .00 cents. There pricing code changes the cents when an item is on sale, if it ends in a 1 it's on clearance.
