You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

I'm sorry if this question is already answered:
Does the Ink Preferred have the first year annual fee waived?

TIA

Guise- please help with some questions.

1. The standard 5/24 rule does not apply for business card, correct? I received more than 5 cards in the last 24 months from others but not Chase.

2. Can apply with SSN and claim sole proprietorship, correct? Even though there is no real business except for eBay selling.

3. Works like a regular Visa, correct?

Chase biz cards follow 5/24 rule -- you need to be under 5/24 to apply but it doesn't add to your 5/24 count if approved (Chase biz cards don't show up on your personal report)

You can bypass 5/24 if you do a paper app with BRM: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ne...chase-524/

So I applied for the SW card last year and I don't see a hard inquiry for it on any of the credit reports. Does this mean that the SW card won't count toward 5/24? Thanks!

5/24 applies when applying for any new chase card. However whether new card gets added to "5" of 5/24 depends on if new card is personal or business. business cards do not get added to "5".

Applied for the Ink Preferred at a local branch (with brm) and got 100k points with $5k spend. $95 annual fee is not waived. Opened account for a legitimate business, so no issues and app was instantly approved.

Hard pulls have nothing to do with 5/24. If the Southwest card shows up as an open account on your credit report (which, if it is a personal SW card, it should), then it counts toward 5/24.

There are certain co-branded Chase cards that are not limited by 5/24, like the Hyatt card, IHG cards and Marriott business card. But yeah, this is definitely a 5/24 card.
