You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.

That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.

When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

Reported income of 2k for the "business" and I put that it's been running for 2 years. I got a message saying it would take 4 weeks. I called the day after I applied and asked if they could speed things up and they approved me right there. I asked them to overnight it and no problem. All in all, very happy. Thanks OP!

Wait a few months, then request a credit line increase. Chase will likely hard pull your credit in doing so. If you spend most of your available credit line, but pay it off in full each month, your credit limit may also be automatically raised after a few months without a hard pull.

Thanks bru_that. I called and asked and they said they would do another hard pull which makes no sense when they just did it to approve me.

Regarding the 5% on phone, internet, etc. Do your phone and internet accounts need to be business accounts? Or they don't care and give you 5% regardless?

Thank you. I called and they inquired my credit report again and approved 5 mins after reviewing. Another 60k to get the companion pass in no time.
