You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

Most mortgage lenders don't take credit card as a payment because of the credit card fees and if they do take it, they make you foot the fees which is around 2%-2.5% of the payment. Most want you to pay with an actual bank account or check. Also, some credit cards companies won't let you pay mortgage notes because that's a cheating way to earn rewards/points. You might have to call both chase and your mortgage lender to see if they let.

Reading through the comments and I'm trying to clarify. So you get User Reward points, but can those be converted to cash back? Or can you get a debit card or check back with a 500.00 value on it?

I don't want points, I'd like the money back in my pocket.

You can cash out at one cent per point in the form of a statement credit or direct deposit to your bank account. But cashing out is a really bad value because the points are worth far more when used for hotels, airfare, etc.

Appreciate any answer to this question?

I currently have this exact card which was from downgrade of another card with AF, this happened about 4 years ago. Since I didn't get bonus for this card, can I still apply and get bonus, even though I am applying the same card ? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the deal. Look solid. I use "sole proprietor" and SSN to apply. Got approved in 10 seconds. The 5% phone, internet, cable will be useful. Other 2% are good as the other cards.

You can check status of your application at 1-888 269-8690. It is entirely automated. All you need is your social since you probably wont have a application number. Chase doesn't really give a lot of feedback so the first sign you are approved will be when the new card shows up in the mail.
Thank you!

The tax ID number that you would put on the application is just your SSN.
