You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

I got declined for this card just now... they said they couldn't verify the business and the guy on the phone was very rude and wouldn't even let me ask any questions!

TBH, I no longer have a business, but I put in the application as a sole proprietor, not my old business name.

I put sole proprietor and used my name as the business name and got approved right away. I never owned a business.

Oh well, another hard pull on my credit report for nothing. Honesty gets you nowhere.

Can you buy gift cards and have it count towards the $3000 spending? I don't know what to buy but will eventually get something on Amazon. I only have a few days left before I have to spend another $500

If it counts as a purchase it counts towards the spend limit. There has been a lot of advice posted previously not to blow $3k on gift cards or at the very least keep it to around $500 a day but other than that you're good to go.

Can one earn $500 cashback bonus if ever had this card before? The terms and conditions have not specified that.

Earn $500 Bonus Cash Back
You will receive 50,000 bonus points with this bonus offer, which can be redeemed for $500 cash back. To qualify and receive your bonus, you must make Purchases totaling $3,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening. ("Purchases" do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.) After qualifying, please allow 6 to 8 weeks for bonus points to post to your account. To be eligible for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.

I have the Business Ink Preferred. Looking to cancel it and get the Chase Ink Business Cash. Is the method of signing up the same in terms of using your SS as the EIN and the other questions asked?
