You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

So I absolutely need to provide EIN? I sell on eBay but not full time

Have dental bills of $3,100 that I could use on this card. How many points do you lose on a hard credit pull?

I received the bonus a year ago with the ink business preferred - do I need to wait 4 years like I do with the sapphire preferred before I can sign up for this, or can I sign up right away?

Got denied as well. Seems Chase really doesn't like to issue to Sole Proprietors anymore.

Have multiple lines of Chase products for decades including: Personal and Business Checking, Savings, Mortgage, Business and Personal line of credit cards. Also have high credit rating well over 830 and a brick and mortar business that has been around for almost 3 decades.

I posted this on Doctor of Credit.
– I tried applying for a Ink Preferred in 2019 using an Ebay account. Duh !! They sent me letter asking me to prove my business. No can do. Denied.
– Feb 2020. Southwest business/personal deal. I read about getting business card by using your name. Tried it and got approved for both the Southwest business and personal. I forgot what I used for business but I pretty much faked the entire thing(In my head I felt like I faked the whole business aspect).
– A DUH !! moment came to me last week when I realized I had a "legit" business this entire time. I have a rental for 6 yrs going and I have legit income statement and 1099 for such business..
– So last week(9/24) I applied for the Ink Umlimited stating $16k in revenue, 6 yrs long and Sole Proprietor. Got an email today(9/29) "approved". Card appeared in my business Chase online account with a $3K limit.
Super excited that I feel like I have a legit business and I can apply for many more business cards years to come.
– FYI. 822 score. Chase customer since 2008. Many many Chase personal cards through the years. Freedom, Preferred, Reserved, United, Marriott, Hyatt, Southwest.
Currently only have Southwest, Reserved, and just turned my Preferred into no-fee Sapphire. Business Southwest and now Ink Unlimited
I feel like having a business CC already helped me in this instant

Why didnt you create an llc since you've been in business that long? Heck for the premises liability alone you should create an llc the day your brick & mortar store opens!

So for me I also got declined. I put sole proprietor, and use my SSN. For the income I out what I make on my day job yearly m and for revenew I put 0 as the things I've our for sale are yet to actually be sold . Maybe that's why I got declined because input 0 but itwas an imidiate decline . Maybe I have to go to a branch and explain to them?

Research what other have said, but you need to call re-con. The branch can't help you.

Yeah, I rent out an apartment that I own and got denied as a sole proprietor with an over 800 credit score. The reason they claimed I wasn't in business long enough.... Not sure if you got a chance to look at your reason for decline.

Also does anyone know how long you have to wait to re-apply? I am willing to give it another try by putting more years in business on my application.

I applied today for my legit business and it said I wasn't immediately approved. It never showed up in my pending applications so I gave them a call. Guy on the line told me that chase was not accepting new business card applications at this time...

Yeah this is really crazy. 48 hours after talking to that guy I got an email form them saying application received and I would hear in 30 days. 30 days by snail mail!!

No reference to an application number, no contact, the website doesnt show my application status in my existing account..... really not a great start here.

And all that for a $3k line? Wow....

I called in and asked for an increase...was immediately shot down. I asked to speak to leading team and they told me it was because I didn't haven't any other accounts with Chase.....Damn...its hard to want to start a business relationship with someone that makes you jump through hoops!!
