The Pens are not my team. I like them though. I really like when Kessel yells at Malkin. Cracks me up. Famous clip with Kunitz in between them laughing his *** off.

I hated Kessel when he was playing for the Bruins, now I love the guy. So much entertainment.

IF they get in the sky is the limit. The relaxed penalty calling in the playoffs makes all the difference.

In general, I am not a big fan of relaxed enforcement during the playoffs. It takes away the much deserved edge from fast and skilled players.

I'm all for player safety. Calling penalties on head shots, boardings, intents to injure & the resultant suspensions. The concussion protocol & all that.

I'm a bit iffy on the race for icings.

But the ticky tacky slashing penalties. Especially the baby taps on the hands (gloves) is ridiculous. Most players have stupidly had the cuffs of their gloves cut down to nothing with next to no padding in the cuffs for better stick handling. I'm more for a equipment regulation returning the protection & length to the cuffs of gloves. If it's faked or real those anguished reactions & called penalties to slashes on the hands make the players look like cry babies. It's a safety & integrity of the game issue.

I'm all for player safety but keep the greatest team sport ice hockey the toughest team sport with the all around best athletes.

I'd bet my life that NHL players can play football, baseball & basketball better. Than the other pros can play the other 3 sports.

I would hate to be a defenseman in the NHL. They call every little slashing, cross-checking, holding, or interference penalty these days. Back in the day, there used to be much harder hitting and the defense could actually clear players away from the front of the net. Now there's rarely any fighting and they've turned it into a finesse offensive game.

Same thing with football really. No hard hits and the defense always gets penalized for pass interference or holding.

If the "life after hockey" or "after football" stories doesn't influence how you feel about the hard hits, perhaps having your star out with a concussion in the playoffs would. The game can be entertaining without seeing someone's head rammed into the boards. Or a broken hand because a defenseman is too slow to keep up. It is simply just bad for the game.

I don't want to see the players out there in pretty dresses, but the game needs to evolve to make it safer.

The shorter cuffs & longer elbow pads makes for many more hand injuries. And players faking it & looking like wimps. Make the gloves with longer cuffs again & we wouldn't have to put up with these stupid ticky tack slashing to the hands penalties.

My B's storm into first place in the Eastern Conference after punching TB in the grill! Feel vindicated after getting robbed at Winnipeg the other night. You know TB is worried when they start fighting with a few seconds left to go when the game is academic. Round 4 on Tuesday night and I'm getting my popcorn ready!Applause

I keep telling you that you are too focused on playoff seeding. The following article is a couple of years old, but as you can see the #1 seed making the finals is less then the #2 getting there since 2002. 12% less than the #2
