Thesmartesthouse.com has the Watercop brand actuator motor and shut off valve combo for $39.99 right now.

3/4" threaded valve
By far the best price I've ever seen for a shut-off valve.
$10 cheaper than the "dome Home" version that went front page in November.
$10 shipping for one, free over $70
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

If you're never threaded / installed pipes before, then yes, it would be better to hire a plumber.
Things can go wrong in a hurry.
Does not require a plumber, but if you're asking the question, you should probably get one...

This looks like it requires a plumber to instalk, correct?

I got the same email. Looks like a really good deal. Anyone find reviews. I'm not home for a few days so I don't have an opportunity to figure out where/how beat installed. I also would likely hire a plumber so I'll add another $100 or so for me.

Was in the market for this. Think I'm going with the non-dependent smart things unit here.

Im guessing you have to buy different brand water sensors and trigger your smart hub to turn this off if its alerted by the different brand water sensor?

No worries. I just added a water sensor and that pushed it over $70 for the free shipping Smilie

These are going for $45-$50 on eBay so this is a good deal, but don't be swayed by the $446 original price on smartesthouse. It's not *that* good of a deal šŸ˜‰

according to the manual found via the op link,

• Ball valve: full port brass forged body; NSF61 and NSF61-G (Lead Free) available

so, no, it should not effect pressure.
