FWIW, since a lot of people are bringing up the Harbor Freight cabinets, I actually returned one of them for something else, and have a feeling I'd keep this Husky over it as well.

While the U.S. General series 1 was constructed pretty well, the drawers were fairly straight and there was almost no cosmetic damage on my particular cabinet, the slides hold back an otherwise solid box.

What Harbor Freight fails to list in the specs on their website is the slides are rated for 59 pounds. 80 pounds (total) on the drawers with double slides. You don't find that out until you get it home and open the manual, and I'm surprised it's not mentioned more in the reviews. That's approaching Stanley Wal-Mart quality level slides.

The sheet metal is a bit thicker than your average big box store tool cabinet sure, but in the end does that really matter? All it does is add needless weight in my opinion. The goal is to store/organize your tools, not beat your box with a sledgehammer.

I'd much rather have a 21 ga box with 100-200# rated slides than a 19 ga with shitty 59# slides. That is afterall where the actual functionality of a toolbox lies.

While the higher count of shallow height drawers was a plus with the USG for me personally, since the majority of my tools are wrenches, sockets, etc., that's largely negated by the extra depth of this Husky.

Factor in the $100 price difference, the workbench top that can be removed and would probably sell for $50 on its own, and it's just a no brainer for me. The USG ends up being just a heavy cumbersome shell with cheap internals.

Also, not that it's really important, but the smell of that rubber mat on the USG just never went away, even after a month of airing out. That was a bit annoying.

That's just my 2 cents on the Harbor Freight cabinets, you're paying a premium in all the wrong areas if you ask me. I'm not saying run out and replace yours if you have one, just that I think you get more for your dollar with most of the alternatives.

That review is for a different box. Irregardless, it pretty much goes without saying that an item which costs 40% more than another should damn well be a better product.

21 gauge steel frame is so-so, but not a bad buy at $249.

Pretty nice box I bought it last year. Doors rolls nice and the box moved very well dint feel filmsy and the wheels are not bad. I roll it over pavers to get the my carport
Not full though.
Bottom drawers will only fit a drill / impact standing with a small battery. If it matters

Can you lay them down in the smaller drawers? I have a number of Milwaukee M18 drills, impacts, saws, extra batteries and chargers that could use a good home. The blow moulded case the fuel drills come in is nice but it's a tremendous waste of space when not on the go.

Damn, I'm looking for the single width ones with 6 or 7 shallow drawers. I can't seem to find it at a decent price

I just received an email from Harbor Freight about their new U.S. General cabinets, series 2. Many people love the first ones, so I have no doubt it will be the same for these.

You have to account for the time change. For the east it might start after 3AM

Do you know if the one without the power strip is on sale also? I just bought that yesterday for $298.
