That's what's kept me with my old Antec case from 2002. While I'd like a new case for some of the newer features and layout advantage, most cases are so flimsy that I can't imagine they'd hold up as long as mine has.

Same. I have an ancient antec server case that's ugly as sin but has 3 or 4 5"bays and 3 small bays on the front, and like 10 hdd caddys inside. Its built like a tank. Only designed for 1 exhaust fan and that's it so I run it with all the panels off. Taking it to the garage to blow the dust out requires two hands lol

What cases are you looking at? Yea a $35 budget case will have shit thin metal but something $85+ should have some decent medal in it.

But we used to be able to sit 300lb computer nerds on our PCs back in the day.

I'm old enough to have used several computer cases as chairs back in the old LAN party days. Some of the best memories!

Been looking for a good case that I could put a DVD writer into - they're few and far between now. Thanks, OP!

Is the non-silent version pretty silent enough? Does this have good cable management?

Won't hold up? What, are you using them as stairclimbers?

I've never had a computer case cave in under its own weight no matter how thin. I'll admit I prefer a quiet case but that's usually the result of good sound insulation, not the thickness of the steel.

That said I have no idea how good this case is, or not.

Aside from LAN party seats, who cares how thin the cases are? Not trying to be difficult...I just never move my computers aside from cleaning once they're built. As long as the thing never falls apart under it's own weight I don't understand the complaints.

Just nostalgia? Honest question(s).

That's a good thing for thermals. Not sure why you need them so thick.

I think it's fair to say you're missing the point. Not to mention, he never said the case would cave under its own weight. When you have thin metal, the panels will eventually bend with use. The case these gentlemen are referring to is heavier than sh**. And when panels bend it becomes a pain to take them off/on. Plus it looks bad. But then again, my antec is like 10 years old and has survived some computer like domestic violence. Especially when moving houses like 4 times. I almost want to keep my antec for the simple fact that It's the one computer purchase I can keep for the next 20 years lol.
