The Tripod straps are compression straps with no buckle, so if you have a tripod that is wider in circumference it's much harder to put on as you have to thread it through the opening. I wish wish wish they had a buckle system that I could just slap a tripod on with, but I'm thinking that I will modify the straps to allow for a detachable buckle system.

Bought this last time it went on sale and travelled in Hawaii for 2 weeks putting it through a lot of different environments. It's a solid, solid bag. I highly recommend it at this price. Low profile, doesn't scream, "I'm a camera bag", has a lot of room for gear + other stuff (Laptop, tablet, extra layer, etc). Has a spot for a water bottle. My only complaint is the straps for the tripod. Other than that: 9/10 for this bag. I love it.

What's the deal with the tripod straps?

You're welcome! Besides the side straps: this bag is really impressive. Really, really impressive on how much gear I can take. It's extremely comfy to wear even when loaded down. I like that you can quick grab your camera from the top without going through the back to access all of the gear. It's quite an incredible design with the only downfall being the side strap. I can live with it though, and honestly I'd still pick up this bag at this price.

Very on point with my experience with this bag. Tripod straps are not the best. They work but you have to fight it. The padding on the back straps are comfortable even with 30 lbs loaded. Great bag minus the tripod straps.

Is there padding on all sides for the gear? How's overall protection?

Sometimes I think this site reads my mind. I seriously looked at this bag on the Incase website yesterday.

I have this bag as well! By far my favorite camera bag. Flown to several countries with it over the past few years with no quality/build problems. Mavic pro drone fits in it really well too. Tripod straps are pretty useless as others have said.

Dang it, picked this bag up via Amazon at 104.99 over the weekend. Nonetheless, Great bag. I like how the compartment is in the back side (facing your back when wearing the bag). Keeps things safer, especially from thieves.

Plenty of space inside. The 15" slot fits my Macbook Pro Retina mid-2015. The pockets are deep. The top opening for a quick grab of your camera works. Plenty of space for a couple lens', drone, and a gimbal.

Overall great bag, would recommend.
