Seems to require a pay pal balance. Details from setup below and the next screen required you to set a top up amount. Also not listing my credit cards. So cash accounts only. That's not going to happen. TD
Pay with your PayPal balance anywhere Samsung Pay is available.
We'll automatically top up your balancefrom your bank or debit card if you don't have enough when you use Samsung Pay. You can manage this in your PayPal Profile.
When you shop in stores with PayPal, you may need a PIN. If you don't have a PIN yet, we'll help you set one up.
In addition to the $5 deal, the additional 1500 points comes out to about $6 ($50 reward card is currently 12500 points).
When the original PP deal was announced, Samsung Pay did not yet show PP as an option. Now it does. As should be expected, you only get a single $5 PP credit by using either Samsung Pay or Google Pay.
This is great can finally use my checking account that isn't allowed by samsung now through paypal with this offer. Works great!! Thanks for the heads up!

FYI rewards expire 12 months after earned and at 1k/mo max from normal purchases, it's impossible to earn the $50 rewards card except for with promotions like this that seem to be few and far between since the devaluation around December/January.
No credit cards on this deal? I've tried about 10 times to connect my Paypal account, but after logging in and putting in my 2FA code, it just loops right back to the login page.
But if this only works with Paypal balance and requires a top-up system, it is certainly not worth the $5 to me. Better to just keep using my credit card in Samsung Pay and score double points.
@TheTaxman_Cometh I got the $50 gift card a while back, and have earned multiple Amazon gift cards from SamPay, but you're right, it was mostly through promotions. There haven't been any great ones in quite a while.

I used to get a $50 card every few months but around December they nerfed redemptions by 25% then earnings by 50%. Still the best mobile wallet hands down but the big of a devaluation all at once stung a little bit.
If I already took advantage of the original PayPal offer in Samsung Pay for $5 off, can I still qualify for the 1500 point after 2 more transactions?
Also, in regards to the comments about "topping off" the PayPal balance: You can very easily deposit any remaining funds back into your checking account (or wherever they came from) from your PayPal balance after making a purchase. You are not locking this money in at all. Just FYI
$5 reward is a credit to linked Paypal account that can only be used for in-store transactions and must be used within 14 days... Very limited, but free $5 nonetheless.
I agree that that 1500 reward points for using it 3x is pretty worthless if u prefer to pay with credit.
I called Samsung Pay support to try to avoid adding a debit card or bank account. The rep couldn't figure out a way to do it, but said she would investigate and call me back within a few days. My Chase Visa card is offering 5% back on Paypal purchases this quarter, so I would like to use Paypal (via Samsung Pay) drawing from Visa card in stores to take advantage of this.

Question, so thats why my PayPal balance hasn't increased by $5. Which means I can't use this $5 credit on any PayPal purchase right? Like I was hoping I could use this credit on a Vudu movie purchase or rental. Since I pay for my Vudu content through my PayPal account.
