When the original PP deal was announced, Samsung Pay did not yet show PP as an option. Now it does. As should be expected, you only get a single $5 PP credit by using either Samsung Pay or Google Pay.

But if this only works with Paypal balance and requires a top-up system, it is certainly not worth the $5 to me. Better to just keep using my credit card in Samsung Pay and score double points.
@TheTaxman_Cometh I got the $50 gift card a while back, and have earned multiple Amazon gift cards from SamPay, but you're right, it was mostly through promotions. There haven't been any great ones in quite a while.

Also, in regards to the comments about "topping off" the PayPal balance: You can very easily deposit any remaining funds back into your checking account (or wherever they came from) from your PayPal balance after making a purchase. You are not locking this money in at all. Just FYI

That's my guess. I would hope to get some notification that the $5 is posted (s/b within 24 hours as I read somewhere)... Then I will see where it shows up. If it doesn't show on Paypal, then we can only test by making an in-store purchase and see...
Pretty weak promo for sure, but that's the reality with Samsung Pay nowadays.
