So for clarification this will work if I have cable internet? Not sure about my modem as I am not home so 2 of these, one at the modem and one by the deadspot (outside deck/backyard - protected from weather). Thanks in advance.

I guess I'll just have to find out but for $10 I say why not. MOCA is the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA), an industry group which develops specifications for home networking over residential coaxial cable

Can I use this to extend my wifi sinal without connecting any physical cable to my router?

No, that's not what this is made for. This is if you want ethernet/Wi-Fi in another room and already have coaxial.

Please use a moca filter on your incoming coax cable line from outside. To prevent your neighbors from getting access to your moca network.

I like how no one is mentioning Deca considering these boxes are tainted with bugs and no support.

Got two of these last time. Was able to compile the newer firmware on Github and update it without any issues. Fixed the problem where it doesn't allow the vertical bar character in the WPA2 passphrase and allows turning off the WiFi radio.

Edit: also this has MoCA privacy, I thought the stock firmware did as well but IDK.
Does the WiFi come back on after power surge? What other bugs still exist

Thanks for the explanation, I'm still confused though. So if you plug the first one into your router Ethernet and into the cable line, then how do you plug the modem into the cable line? Do you use a cable line splitter, one goes to the modem and the other goes to this wifi extender? Should you plug this wifi extender via Ethernet into the modem or router?

For the second device, is the only option to plug into cable line? I want to put it in the garage to extend wifi range, but there's no cable line there. Are there other options to extend wifi without a cable line requirement?
I had the same question re point 1. I already have a splitter there for tv + internet so I'm guessing I'd have to split again. Something tells me that's probably not a great answer.

If you disable it, it stays disabled after unplugging the power. I don't know about any other bugs but those were the two things that didn't work originally. I didn't want to change my passphrase on all of my devices so I just edited the code to skip the check for "|" (which if I recall was the only special character that it prevented).

I picked one up about a month ago for $11+ and it works great with FiOS. We went from a one bar signal that would drop out to having a strong signal and streaming Netflix in HD. Remember to get a splitter and extra (1 or 2)coax cable as mine did not come with either.

No experience with what your mentioning, have one of these in the basement and another at the GFs house.

What problems, could you please be more specific?
