I'm still upset about the Teavana mess! I finally pulled the trigger last Monday at $54 and figured it wouldn't get any lower than that. Looks like it did!

Edit: I also wanted to add that while the variable temperature is wonderful, I'm not sure if the quality is worth $50. I've been eyeing this kettle for over 6 months and was shocked at how cheap the construction looked and thin the metal felt. Mine has the appearance of being dented or uneven but it's not. I used it for the first time today and it worked as expected so I guess that's really what mattered.
If you make coffee using the pour over method, then the ability to set the temperature exactly where you want it counts. The spout also allows very precise pouring.

If you don't experiment with ratios, temperatures, and times then you could get by with just about any kettle.

I've had this unit for several years - I originally had an older version and there was an issue with the coating that caused surface rust on the lid. It was out of warranty, but I sent a few photos to Bonavita and they shipped me a brand new unit, no questions asked.

This is a crazy good price for an excellent kettle.

Wow, this is a good price! Sub-$50 is about my threshold for this... tax puts it just over LOL!

This brings back bad memories of the Teavana fiasco where I *almost* had it for $38~

Why do you say this? I am a big tea and coffee drinker, and honestly unsure if I should drop $50 for this.

I think I paid like $80 and I hate it every day. It is sooo slow to get even a cup of water to boil. Give me a cheapo 2000 w heater any time over this

You're probably brewing your tea & coffee too hot. By setting a specific temperature, you can get a better brew/flavor out of various types of tea & coffee. Added bonus with instant tea, you can set the temperature low enough to drink immediately without cooling off.

Honest question here, isn't a chopstick+cheap kettle the exact same thing as a gooseneck? Obviously this has temp controls but almost every kitchen has a thermometer. Seems like people are creating excuses for needs out of wants.

That said, if you don't already have a kettle this is not a bad deal to look into.

This is a great deal.

Just a heads up about a possible rust issue, I bought one before for ~$70-80 a while back but it had rust on it, so I had to return. Definitely check the whole kettle before you start using to see if there is rust.

Based on the reviews, I'm sure I'm not the only one who had the problem.

I've been using this since 10/2017 for pour-over coffee. No rust issues. Empty kettle after use and leave the lid ajar so it can dry. This is a good price to buy at. Highly recommended.
