First of all, you will need a CVS ExtraCare card. This is obtained easily at any store at the register. Some will ask you to fill out the form then and there, others will just give you the card and ask you to return the form later.
Once you have the card, you can now start CVSing
The biggest thing to understand is that CVS uses a promotional program called "ExtraCare Bucks" (commonly abbreviated as ECBs.) These print out on your receipt immediately once you purchase an item offering them; almost like an instant-rebate you get at the register. You can turn around and use them anytime on almost anything in the store, except for alcohol, cigarettes, and gift cards.
Often, CVS advertises items as "Free after ECB" – For example, throughout the month of November, CVS has Crest Pro Health Whitening Toothpaste in 4.2 oz size, for free after ECB. The cost is $3.49, but you get $3.49 back instantly on your receipt. The best part is that there are often coupons available that can actually help you earn money… like for the above toothpaste, there are $1 off coupons available, meaning the item would be $2.49, but you get $3.49 in ECBs back. The limit on this toothpaste for this month is 2. So if you wanted to start off small to get into CVSing, the thing to do would be to buy one toothpaste in the first transaction (and use a coupon if you have one, so that you either pay $3.49 or $2.49 in cash), then use the $3.49 ECBs you get back from that first transaction to pay for the second tube of toothpaste, and again, receive $3.49 more in ECBs.
The trick now is to roll your ECBs so that you rarely pay more than maybe a dollar or two in tax on transactions, instead using your ECBs from previous transactions… then earning more to keep doing the same. It's a cycle (and a game/addiction to some, lol.)

Our power went out for good Wednesday morning after going off & on all night Tuesday. On Tuesday it snowed about 6-7" then Tuesday evening into early Wednesday morning is when the ice hit. About and 1.5" of Ice on the power lines trees, etc... Trees were coming down all night. Then the power went out & it started snowing again.
As soon as the power went out our basement started to flood, thankfully our neighbor loaned us a generator to run the sump pump so it wouldn't flood. But thats all it was running. It was soooooooo Cold. All we had was the fireplace for warmth. And all it did was barely warm up the living room, which was better than nothing, but it was still cold.
We ran out of wood yesterday afternoon and and was calling everyplace in town looking for firewood, which no one had. Thankfully the sump stop filling up with water for awhile so we could unplug it and plug in a space heater. Then Late last night The crews came down our street & 2 hours later we had power.
2 day nightmare, no power, no heat, nothing to cook with & freezing cold. Its still a mess out there, with trees down all over the place, icicles hanging off of everything and mounds of snow piled up everywhere.
