Sun Joe AJ801E 12 Amp 12.6" Electric Scarifier Plus Lawn Dethatcher with Collection Bag
$89.99
Both Home Depot and Amazon have this at $89.99

Price fluctuates on this quite a bit but it is only $10 off the all time low. Haven't used mine much but was very impressed when I did. Definitely will be a great help for trying to get a lawn back and to help with areas that need reseeding. Read the reviews if you are not sure what this is for.
Take note that they all say that the collection bag is next to useless as it fills to quickly but besides that the machine does what it claims to do and does it well. I have had very good luck with SunJoe products and they seem responsive if you do have any issues.

I'm not sure if I would be ok with a corded version of this tool. Do you wish it was cordless?

I have this one bought from sears using points. I wish it was cordless because, it is hassle with the cord. OTOH, I use it once I year so I can work with it. But for frequently use equipments, prefer cordless.
Agreed. I wasn't sure what to expect with the cultivator/tiller. I actually purchased a gas one at first and then saw the deal on here.
I would use this probably once per year at most. Hmmm
I tried a corded SnowJoe snow thrower this past winter one time and that tool was terrible.
Anyone have any experience with this one or the Greenworks and can chime in?
Thanks.
Thatching incurs unnecessary stress on most lawns, as most lawns do not have a thatch problem. Core aeration is far better, and usually the only necessary action you need to take.
I've tried the Gardenia bladed rake...
I've tried the blade attachment on my lawn mower
This SunJoe dethatcher kicks arse!!!
A few things, tho..
- Cord issues, as noted here and by others. You just gotta whip the cord around to get it out of the way.
- The collector bag -- it is just 'fo sho'! I dethatch with the bag and just keep going (since the instructions say to only operate with the bag), even if the bag is full. The bag is tiny and fills up really fast.
- You still need to rake / bag the thatch afterwards.
Someone also mentioned dethatching causes stress to the lawn. Perhaps...But, living in WA state, where it rains a lot, there is no easier / affordable way to get rid of all that moss than with this SunJoe dethatcher!!

I dethach without bag and later use the lawn mower with bag at highest cutting setting to collect the thatch.

Dethatching
Core aeration
Dethatching takes up the the dead matted grass that tends to build up down at the bottom of the lawn. The scarifier cuts groves in the soil and is supposed to promote root growth. I personally am more interested in the scarifying to help with overseeding and working on bad parts of the lawn.
