They say a mixture is best but depends on what you are growing. I use a mixture of homemade compost and potting soil for my pots but not sure how I will fill these since they require so much. All I know is not to use yard dirt because that will introduce weeds. Just bought these and haven't set them up yet, will see!

I agree that a mixture will be good, especially if you have a landscaper supplier who you can get truckload of 50/50 - topsoil/compost mix. I would mix garden soil with compost and manure (1:5 - manure/garden soil). Garden soil alone isn't good for growing in raise bed

Saw this at the Alhambra, Ca store. It was in the seasonal aisle. I don't think they usually advertise clearance prices/items.

I know the big-box stores carry soil mixture specifically for raised garden beds now.
