4K @30Hz not a good deal

EDIT: Why is that a problem? DeX does not work at 4K anyway.

I have it, bought awhile back, works well but the only thing is my Note 8 will not charge with it... So the battery slowly dies throughout the day

I have something similar, got it for the same price, but not as sleek of a form factor. Works well as Samsung Dex, but questionable about using it for the Switch. However, ever since the 5.0 firmware update I haven't tried it yet for fear of it damaging my Switch.

Was thinking of getting it for the Switch (one review noted it works well) however, people do say you definitely need a USB-C power adapter with PD of 30 watts to properly charge any device while connected to this. Seems like I'll have to use the Switch's adapter or spend an extra $20 to buy another adapter for more convenience (if you always want it just ready to go whenever).

I'm confused, isn't just a normal type c to hdmi? Will this display my chromebook on the tv? Or is it only compatible on the devices listed?
