Dicks Sporting Goods has great prices on select 2-Pack Daiwi Fishing Rod & Reel Combos when you follow the steps below. Select free store pickup if stock permits, otherwise shipping is free on orders $49 or more. Thanks daisybeetle
The reviews on the site helped me decide. For example, the "most helpful" review for the 7' rod says: "Caught six strippers the same day I purchase this product"
So it sounds like these may do more than advertised...
You can catch a lot from six strippers.

OP used an Affiliate link just fyi. Not sure if that's against SD policy or not, but not a fan of people not being up front about it. Check your email DSG sent out the out the 20% off coupon. No need to use the Affiliate link.
My fiancee and I have never fished. Which one would be the best choice for us?
Similar question, if I were buying my first rods, would it be more useful to get 2 of the 7' rods, or 2 of the 6'6", or one each of the 5'6" and 6'6" rods?
I think I would be doing more fishing off a pier than in the woods, fwiw

Get 2 6'6 or 7 ft. The 5' is really light weight for anything more than bluegill.
Just bought and picked up 2 for 30 w/o the 20% off on Tuesday. Called customer service just now and they credited me back the difference. Even sweeter deal.

6'6 Medium is a really nice combo you can't go wrong with. I've caught plenty of nice catfish with it.
