Many top marathons times in the last year have been set Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%.
Pureboost is considered by many distance runners as too soft and no very stable basically to do overuse of Boost and due to top material. Glide 8 were very popular but when they changed them to the current Supernova many Glide 8 fans said the Supernova was too soft. I never ran in prior Adidas shoes. I have only run in the current Energy Boost, Supernova, and Boston 6. All three use Boost and have Continental outer soles. I have nearly 600 miles on my Supernova shoes and continue to run up to 15 miles in them. They are significantly firmer than another pair I have with less than 25 miles on them so they do firm up over time. I have never been able to run more than about 300 to 350 miles or so in Nike LunarGlides or LunarEclipse before the midsole wear causes leg pain and the outer sole is worn away. The SuperNova and Energy Boost are too heavy for races. Many wear adizero Adios Boost or Boston 6 or now 7 for races. Both are often used for faster training runs too. Both are also very durable unlike most other shoes used for racing which may wear out after 200 miles or so. The Boston 6/7 have a little more cushion than the adizero Adios Boost so some prefer those for that reason. Neither have nearly as much cushion as Energy Boost or Supernova. Too much energy is lost when a shoe has a lot of cushion which will hurt one's race times. See Letsrun forums for discussions of training and racing shoe recommendations.
I have these. In my opinion they are not very comfortable to run or cross train in. The wide sole and loose knit allow to much foot movement. Also not as cushioning as I expected. My feet hurt if doing hours of standing in these. They are comfortable and look good for casual wear.

Are the DPR better for casual running (1-2 miles) than the normal Pureboost. Price difference is around $18.
The regular pureboost is probably more comfortable for runs of any length, but you can ignore that better when it's a shorter run. The regular one doesn't have a "tongue", it's pretty continuous. The DPR has a tongue, and a long one at that, which could end up being annoying. At this price though, I'm pretty tempted to get it regardless and give it a try.

How does Adidas compare to Asics, NB, Brooks for running? Those guys are well known for the professional runners but I wonder how Adidas stack up against them?

Thanks for this. I was looking to get it for work which requires a lot of long standing and walking. I'll pass.
