I have this in my house. Dont read those reviews on amazon. It works as advertised. Most of those reviewers dont know how to set it up correctly. You need to place the connector in near the modem and the lock for it to work efficiently

You could always use a wifi extender? My modem is about 30 ft away from my front door and it still works.

Just to prevent confusion you need your router to be close to the lock cause the wifi chip on the august is very weak by the sounds of what you guys and amazon reviews are saying. So you are talking about the router not the modem, yes in most cases they are right next to each other but not always. As stated you can always keep the router wherever it is but put an AP near the lock too.

actually, you need the Connect module to be close to the lock, and the AP close to the connect.

Ideally you don't need the connect so close to the lock, and don't need the AP to be anywhere near the connect. But they don't know how to design for wifi.

I have this at my house and it works great. Connect is in an outlet about 5 or 6 ft away from the door. The router is pretty far but provides good wifi signal to connect and it works flawlessly. I don't have the keypad to say how well that works but with my iPhone 8 it works great.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I also have an Apple TV 4K in the living room acting as a HomeKit hub and Siri controls the lock w/o issues.

Yeah that's why I jumped on that amazing refurb Schlage deadbolt with Z-WAVE deal over the weekend. $75 for a smartlock, that just cant be beat, hence why I got two of them. Z-wave makes this a none issue if you already have a hub, which if your getting into home automation you really should.

i think so, but you'll apple tv will have to be really close to the door.
