Verizon Pixel 2 & 2 XL at Walmart B&M - $251 for Pixel 2 - $451 for Pixel 2 XL - YMMV

Walmart has a $400 discount on Pixel 2 and 2 XL. Picked up a Pixel 2 64GB for $251 ($10.45 per month for 24 months ($10.65 first month)), $30 activation fee, paid only tax on the phone price upfront. Store says they have plenty in stock.

EDIT: Yes, instant discount which results in the lower total price/monthly payments (not bill credits). Upfront tax charged on discounted price.

New or existing Verizon line & DPP required; if you do not want service with Verizon, you should be able to pay off early without penalty. Forum members are reporting a 14 day lockout on early device payoff in the Verizon website, but report success paying it off on the Verizon app, at a Verizon store with cash or by phone with Verizon customer service. Then they have cancelled the line via phone or chat, all within the 72 hour period during which line charges are refundable. You may have to make sure with customer service that the cancellation takes effect immediately and the activation fee is waived.

YMMV finding inventory. There were several in stock at the South Euclid and Mayfield Heights stores in OH. The store displays there showed the discount. Try to work with the third-party wireless expert in the electronics area. If there is no sign and WM employees do not know about discount, you may not see the discount until they print out the DPP form. B&M only, website and brickseek are not reliable on inventory.

See post #1075 for example of a smoothly executed deal.

POSTSCRIPT: A shout out to SkillfulOstrich6994 who posted this deal (with success stacking with a trade-in!) in another thread before I came along with this thread.

UPDATE:. For those not staying with Verizon, folks are reporting no luck paying the phone off by calling customer service or in the app. Paying by cash at a corporate store may be the only option.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Quick Summary (from user :guesswho) :

-Check WM inventory for the Google Pixel phones
-If you find a store that has it, go there and ask them to put on the 24 month DPP. Instant savings $400. Payment per month varies depending on phone you choose. You need to be there only when the phone associate works (others are pretty much clueless). Als only when WARP is active - not after 8pm
-They will activate the phone for you at WM and insert sim
-Come back home, set up MyVerizon app and pay off the phone through the app. Cannot do it online. Or go to VZ store and pay in cash.
-After paying phone, chat with agent and cancel. Ask to disconnect service today. You will get run around but be persistent.
-After disconnect, wait for first bill via email - this part I dont know since I just disconnected after 3rd chat.

Additional notes:
- After you buy the phone, create an online account. Note down your account number, phone number, username and password. You will need the account number and username later.
-Use MyVerizon app on phone, go to devices and pay off phone by day 2. If this does not work, go to store and pay in cash and pay off phone. Some users have reported that a new app update has prevented the device payment through app. But try it first and see before going to store.
- After paying off phone, disconnect and close account by Day 2 (Day 1 is the Day you purchased and activated the phone). This way, you avoid $30 Activation fees and get prorated for the monthly charges since you cancelled within 3 days.
-Check email after disconnect to verify that the date mentioned is the date you chatted/called for disconnecting. If it shows a month from now, you will be billed for a month. Call/Chat again.
-If you see anything amiss, chat again and be persistent and ask for the Account to be closed immediately and ask if a manager can do it. Be polite always.
-When disconnect happens, you will not be able to login to your MyVerizon on app nor the account online using your email id. You can still access your online account using your username.
-Make a test call. If you get the Verizon error message, you're good. If the call goes through, it has not been disconnected yet. Chat again. For me, on 3rd chat I was chatting through the app and got kicked off while chatting, so agent was able to disconnect right away. I made a test call and got the verizon error message. I couldn't log in to my Verizon account.
-There is an envelope icon when chatting. It is good to click that and give your email address so you can get a chat transcript (doesn't work if your account gets disconnected while chatting)
-Access disconnected account by going through link below and providing your account number and zipcode (This is why you need to write down your account number - to view your final bill)
-On day of disconnect, bill was 0.00
-On Day 2 of disconnect bill showed $72.xx (2 months charge minus activation charge)
-On Day 5 or 6, you will be able to view our bill which should be under $20. Mine was $9.xx. Pay this off by going to disconnected accounts using the link and the account number (which you noted down), or login to regular account using your username (which you noted down)/password to pay off.
-You will get 2 mailed bills from Verizon. First one will be over $100. Ignore it. Second one should be in the $10 range. That is your final bill. Pay it off if you haven't paid it online on Day 5 or 6.
-If you have already opened an account and cancelled with Verizon, you will have to wait another 50 days before you can open another account. Thanks SkillfulOstrich for this info.

Or use the username (instead of phone number) and password to log in to regular verizon account. You cannot use your email id/password after you cancel account. Only username/password works.

See my post for some new info about inventory.

some experiences:

Got 2 Pixel 2 XLs, a 128GB and 64GB on a single brand new account (2 brand new lines) ~5pm today, paid them off via the My VZ app around 9pm, and called the 1-800-922-0204 number to cancel them.

Upon login after cancellation, bills due show $0, and both lines are terminated now.

Very smooth process, other than WM associate having to call in for a second line (apparently happens often).

If you cannot find Google Pixel phones, similar deal can also be replicated for Samsung phones with a $150 discount instead of the $400 discount for the Google Pixel phones. The Samsung phones mentioned below are clearanced to $299 making them $149 after the DPP agreement. Thanks to the OP and posters of the Samsung Galaxy thread which can be found HERE. The Samsung Galaxy S7 phones cannot be used on Sprint BYOD plan while the Google Pixel phones can be used on Sprint BYOD. Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 can be used on Tmobile.

Yes, the trade-in credit from Verizon will be applied on your account as bill credits.
Bill credits... towards paying off the phone? Excuse my ignorance. Thank you

The bill credits are spread over 24 months and will deduct anything you owe on your Verizon bills. Bill credits stop if you pay off your phone earlier than 24 months.

Still haven't seen an answer to this.

If you purchase this for an existing line, do you pay both activation and an upgrade fee?

You pay upgrade fee only. Activation fee is for new line.

They were out of 64GB versions but $340 for the 128GB is still a very slick deal. Thanks OP!

I was able to get the Pixel 2 64 GB in black for $251 at Secaucus, NJ Walmart. This was their last one in black (they had 2 more in white). I was chatting with the person processing my purchase and she said that they will likely get more in stock, which is usually on Wednesday or Thursday. She also said that this deal has been going on for a little while and that Walmart already extended it once and that she wouldn't be surprised if they extended it again. Anyways, they have been restocking every week and she said her manager will look at inventory and reorder if he hasn't already. Based on this, maybe you guys will find it back in stock.

I should add that the Walmart site showed that the phone wasn't in stock at the store since I first checked a couple days ago and brickseek only showed it to be in limited quantity. I got there around 7PM today and 2 people in front of me bought the phone in black, so the inventory system is not very reliable. I tried to call first but I could never get through to someone at the mobile phone counter. The receptionist kept trying to transfer me and after 5 tries and 10 minutes of cumulative ringing, I gave up, rolled the dice and went.

By the way, it is not bill credits. The paperwork showed that the contract is for $251 over 24 months with a payment schedule. I only had to pay NJ tax upfront of about $16 and change.
