You can get the atmos add on speakers for pioneer like I did. Sounds great to me (despite controversial reviews)

I agree - dialouge solely through the center channel is rather lowly. Any suggestions on a good replacement? I find myself listening to everything in 'extended stereo' rather than surround because of the more full sound that way.

I'm surprised because I believe the center is the higher rated than the bookshelf. I thought I read folks use the center as bookshelf speakers, just rotating it.
They are, but there's no way you will find a cheaper Atmos setup. I would recommend trying the speakers and then deciding later if you want the extra $100 for Atmos. Either way this is a great deal for a solid 5-ch setup
