Because you don't always have someone around who can use there car to jump yours. And on top of that it saves a little bit of time not having to reverse another car to assist. And these double as spare batteries to be used with phones and laptops so they serve more than just one purpose.
Right? I had jumper cables, hood open, it was -20 and at a Goodwill store. The employee working said he couldn't help me and the three people that walked in and out of the store either said no or that their car manual said they aren't allowed to jump start a car. I'll be getting some kind of battery pack this year for sure.
Isn't that a lead acid battery? Therefore, you would need to keep it on a charger most of the time and def. Requires charging after a jump. It's bigger and heavier, not as compact and light as this lithium battery

Tempting if they do really work in the cold climates. Left my lights on for the first time this last winter after I went into a store and it took AAA 2 hours to drive to me to jump start my car.

Why not just buy a pair of jumper cables then?

How would this fair in the car considering it can get pretty hot inside for extended periods of time?

Most of the other jump starters are in the $50+ range so this seems like a good cheap insurance. Just ordered one. I can't get the free ship to store to work for this, the Chat rep couldn't either so he is refunding the $6 shipping fee for my order.

This is far more convenient then having a pair of jumper cables. For the past three years, I used my jump starter and helped out about 5 people. Before that another person had a jump starter and helped me out.

I own the JNC660 which I bought after seen my mechanic using the same one in the shop. I have saved few people with SUV and even one regular car when they got stuck trying using regular jumper cables and these kind of of cheap battery jumpers (not enough peak) will definitely buy something of higher quality.

I always use free store pickup, but it wasn't available for this item. I added my usual shower gel to the order since I'll have to buy it eventually. Free two day shipping once you eclipse $35.

Lipol battery is liquid inside. Can be damaged by freezing or excessive heat. I'm still holding to last year deal for the same brand 8700 mAh for $9.99. no degradation from heat but during winter take it with you to avoid freezing

It says it includes "12,15,16,19 Volt DC Ports". Can this supply portable power to those devices?
