AT&T has a call-in only deal available for old-school 2 year contract pricing on the new iPhone XS and XS Max. Ask for "loyalty" or say "I'd like to cancel" when you call.
They will take $450 off the price of the phone in exchange for a 2 year commitment to AT&T with the usual ETF if you want to cancel. Certainly not for everyone, but I thought I'd share.
I have one of their unlimited plans, so YMMV if you do not.

its a 2 year plan.
You also have to be on an Unlimited plan otherwise you will get an additional $20 a month hit.
If you are a Comcast Internet customer, and use less than 1 GB data per month, check out the Xfinity Mobile deal. $300 GC after purchase of any iPhone, no trade in required, and only $12 per month for up to 1 GB, and only about $3 per month in taxes and fees. Verizon network coverage. Once again, this would only benefit low data users.

Are we able to pay for the phone outright and still be on the 2 year plan? Or does it have to be the monthly installment costs on the bill?

Lets say I buy 3 iPhone XS Max with the $450 discount = $2190 (with CA tax)
I sell 2 of those phone for $1100 each. The 3rd iPhone would be basically free correct?
