How much do you spend on "deals"?

940 257 October 7, 2018 at 01:44 PM
So, after browsing this forum for awhile and other ones geared towards "deals", I've come to the (really late) realization that I buy a ton of things that I simply don't need because they're on sale. I wanted to do if anyone else suffers from an immense fear of missing out when looking and deals here and how do you overcome it?

(If this post is in the wrong place please let me know. The forum mandates that I select a category so I picked something for that reason)

It's easy. Most of the deals aren't really good and you can find them all year so no need to go deal crazy.

You started a new thread about how to get alerts for Craigslist deals, so I'd say staying off Craigslist and SD would help curb down spending, if you're unable to control it.
Finding a better way to use your time, such as reading, traveling, cooking, exercising, would keep your mind off "deals" that you don't need Smilie

I look at deals that are unique; product line closing such as Kobalt at Lowes, or refurbs or of course pricing errors.

I buy stuff I think I may need like a SDS hammer drill for 100.00 used it once but loaned it to a friend that removed all the tile from her bathroom etc.

Amazon whse deals on dog treats have been great.

It's easy to fall into the trap of buying things you don't need just because they're cheap, on sale, etc.

I still check out the front page deals almost daily, but I've become very selective about the things I actually buy. It has to be something that aligns with my needs at the time. If there's something specific I'm shopping for, I'll usually come here and search to see if there's a deal for that item or a similar item first.

I also don't really worry about video game deals any more. I just buy the games I want at the best price available at the time I want to buy them. Usually when there are deals such as Gamestop sales and I buy 4 games at $10 each or something like that, 99% of the time I don't end up playing them. I find I'm better off just saving that money for the next game I really want to play even if it means paying retail price for a new release.
